Easts Leagues Timeline
1958 10 October: sees the official beginning of Eastern Suburbs Leagues Club, on the first floor of the Bondi Beach Pavilion.
1961 15 September: saw Eastern Suburbs Leagues Club open in the Royal Surrey Hotel, 195 Oxford Street, Bondi Junction. The property was purchased with the assistance of Rod Miller, of Millers Brewery.
1963: Construction begins of Eastern Suburbs Leagues Club, Spring Street, Bondi Junction – Current location.
1968 April 21: Easts opened their new premises at 93-97 Spring Street, Bondi Junction.
1999: The façade of the Spring Street entrance was significantly remodelled and Easts Group was created with an amalgamation with Kingswood Bowling Club.
2002: Amalgamation with Berkeley Sports & SocialClub.
2010: Amalgamation with Waverley Bowling & Recreation Club.

1908 The Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club was formed at Paddington Town Hall and is a foundation member of the NRL competition. Their first match was played on the 20th April at Wentworth Park where they defeated Newtown 32-16.
1911-13 Eastern Suburbs won their 1st, 2nd & 3rd Premierships consecutively in 1911, 1912 & 1913. The team became the first football club to win 3 consecutive premierships with the help of Dally Messenger, the highest profile Rugby Union player of the day, who agreed to switch codes and play Rugby League.
1923 Eastern Suburbs won their 4th Premiership.
1935-1937 Eastern Suburbs won their 5th, 6th & 7th Premiership in 1935, 1936 & 1937. In 1937 they also went through the season undefeated – a feat achieved by teams in only 5 other seasons before or since.
1940 Eastern Suburbs won their 8th Premiership.
1945 Eastern Suburbs won their 9th Premiership.
1967 Eastern Suburbs underwent a renaissance by introducing a new emblem on the playing jerseys, the rooster.
1974-75 Eastern Suburbs won their 10th premiership in 1974. The following year, they also won their 11th premiership.
1976 The introduction of jersey sponsorship with the Sydney Roosters negotiating a deal with the City Ford Company. The Sydney Roosters won their 1st World Club Challenge defeating St Helens 25-2.
1995 ‘Eastern Suburbs’ changed its name to ‘Sydney City’.
2000 The Club’s name was changed to simply the ‘Sydney Roosters’.
2002 The Sydney Roosters captured their 12th premiership—their first in 27 years—defeating minor premiers the New Zealand Warriors 30–8 in the NRL Grand Final.
2003 The Sydney Roosters won their 2nd World Club Challenge defeating St Helens 38-0.
2007 The Roosters became the first club to play 100 seasons of first grade rugby league. The book “From Where The Sun Rises: 100 years of the Sydney Roosters” was published to celebrate this record.
2013 The Roosters won their 13th premiership – defeating the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 26-18 in the NRL Grand Final. They also won the Minor Premiership.
2014 The Sydney Roosters won their 3rd World Club Challenge – defeating the Wigan Warriors 36-14.
2015 The Sydney Roosters won their 3rd consecutive Minor Premiership, 19th time in history.
2018 The Sydney Roosters finished in first place, claiming their 20th Minor Premiership. They played Melbourne in the 2018 NRL Grand Final, and won 21-6 to claim their 14th premiership.
2018 The Sydney Roosters were one of the first 4 teams to have a Women’s NRL team, partaking in the inaugural NRLW. The Women’s team made it to the Grand Final, and were defeated by the Broncos. 4
2019 The Sydney Roosters won their 15th Premiership and their second consecutive premiership after a hard fought victory against Canberra Raiders in the Grand Final.
