Easts Together – November 2024 to January 2025 Highlights
The Easts Group and Sydney Roosters have participated in several community activities across the period, with highlights below:
- November 1: We hosted GSA Insurance and Bandu (First Nations-led social enterprise and registered charity that supports young First Nations People as they work towards their life and career goals) for a joint careers expo to support senior students from schools across Sydney. Staff, including Matt King, were excellent, giving insight into the roles and careers in the Rugby League and Clubs industries.
- November 22: We supported Randwick City Council’s, Step Out Speak Out event against domestic violence. Joe Kelly, Mitchell Aubusson, Mitchell Pearce, Millie Boyle, and other staff attended along with representatives from NSW Police, and other leading community organisations in Sydney’s East.
- November 26: We attended OLSH Kensington’s Year 9 Fitness Expo, including NRLW player Shawden Burton. The school shared great feedback following our attendance.
- November 28: We attended the NRL School to Work Awards at Homebush and congratulated the NRL School to Work staff, four students who were finalists, and one Apprentice of the Year winner, Isabella White, who works at Worthington BMW on the Central Coast.
- November 29: We supported the WNOW Charity Walk, including meeting the NRL squad. Trent spoke to the 60+ attendees, who also walked on Allianz thanks to Venues NSW’s support. See picture below.
- December 6: We attended Red Flag Day, held by Lokahi Foundation (a local domestic violence charity) at Bondi Beach, along with State MP Kellie Sloane and other supporters.
- December 11: Sydney Roosters staff and NRLW players attend a fundraising initiative for Marine Rescue NSW. Marine Rescue NSW was a successful charity included in the prestigious ICAP fundraising day, where all proceeds generated by financial brokers for the day are shared with select charities. - January 16: Leaders from the Roosters and Club met with St Vincents De Paul to discuss ways we can continue to support their work with the homeless community in Sydney.
