Easts Together – June & July 2024 Highlights

The Easts Group and Sydney Roosters have participated in several community activations across June and July, with highlights below:

  • 24th of May, Troy Dargan from KARI hand-carved cultural gifts that we exchanged between the Roosters and Raiders as part of the NRL Indigenous Round in Canberra.
  • 28th of May, CEO Joe Kelly, donated blood at the Entertainment Quarter as part of the Roosters Blood Donation Team.
  • League of Roosters Club, the Menai Roosters had 275+ of their club in attendance at the Cowboys match. They arranged buses for the majority of their club to have a great experience at Allianz Stadium. Feedback from the Club is that it’s a memory their entire club will cherish, and Roosters match day staff commented it’s the best Community Corner we’ve ever hosted.
  • Roosters player, Rob Toia attended Waverley College’s Pasifica Cultural Program on Monday 17th June to support their students and join them over lunch.
  • Also on Monday 17th June, a group of Easts Group staff led by Joe Kelly volunteered for the Vinnies Van meal service to feed over 200 homeless people in Sydney. A moving and humbling experience for all and Vinnies was most grateful for our support.
  • Local Junior League players aged U7 have just completed their 6-week Tackle Ready Program at Waverley Oval and Billy Smith presented them with their certificates of completion.
  • 20th of June, CEO Joe Kelly participated in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. He raised over $33.5k and was featured in several media stories including NRL.com and ClubsNSW to promote the great work Vinnies do to support homelessness and raise funds to support their services. • 21st of June, NRL Squad Coaches, Tait Barnes, Hayden Knowles, and Justin Holbrook, supported by Craig Walker, hosted a successful Coaching Clinic for over 50 community coaches on the Central Coast.
  • 22nd of June, the Sydney Roosters announced a 5-year renewal agreement with Rugby League Central Coast (RLCC) at the NRL match, which includes the Sydney Roosters investing over $325,000 into local clubs and the competition over the next 5 years. RLCC is supporting over 6,700k registered players in the region this season and we’re confident this partnership will strengthen this pathway into our men’s and women’s programs. At the match, we also hosted a VIP Parliamentary delegation from Papua New Guinea with 16 officials.
  • Sunday 7th July, the Roosters hosted the local community organisation Jewish House in the Community Corner at the Roosters v Dragons match at Allianz Stadium.
  • Monday 8th July, ahead of the NRL squad going into Camp, the team visited 3 Central Coast Community Clubs, to give back and engage with local players, coaches, and families. We had over 1,000 attendees across the three clubs and the feedback was very positive.
  • 9th of July we support Indigenous Partner KARI at their Corporate NAIDOC week event with 8 staff and NRLW player, Olivia Kernick.
  • 12th of July, we submitted a nomination for Jared Waerea-Hargreaves for the Phillips Sports Dad of the Year Award.
