Easts Together November – January Highlights
The Easts Group and Sydney Roosters have participated in several community activities across the period, with highlights below:
- 17 October – Easts staff and management attended and supported the Family of League’s annual fundraiser at Canterbury Leagues Club.
- 26 October – Anthony Minichello and Management attended Rally4Ever, pickleball event at Bondi Beach. A vibrant community event celebrating inclusiveness, connection and the importance of exercise and mental wellbeing. Supported by Council, it was great to catch up with Council representatives and state MPs who appreciated our ongoing support.
- 1 & 3 November – Pathways staff, Trent Robinson and Tarryn Aiken, headlined the induction workshop and first Roosters Rise session at Cranbrook School. More than 100 boys and girls aged 12–14 are participating in this free 10-week NSWRL program focused on developing skills, fitness, and overall wellbeing. We believe we are the only district in Australia offering a Rise program delivered directly by an NRL Head Coach, NRLW players, and a dedicated team of community coaches and volunteers — a point of difference that is being warmly received. Participant and parents’ feedback have been overwhelmingly positive. We are also grateful to Cranbrook School for hosting the program.
- 18 December – Roosters Directors, Management, and players visited the Bondi Beach Memorial following the terror attack at Bondi Beach. Players who had previously met victims sent video messages and checked in as they recovered in the hospital.
- 20 December – Roosters management attended a pre-game minutes silence at Waverley Oval to support Easts Cricket Club.
- 21 December – Roosters management and club historian Alan Katzman attended the official National Day of Reflection event at Bondi Beach for the victims of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack, marked by nationwide candle lighting and a minute of silence at 6:47 PM.
- 20 January – Players, coaches, and the community department supported Trent Robinson’s idea to get the NRL squad on Bondi Beach for a light pre-season training session and invite the local community along. It was wonderfully received and enjoyed by all, featuring on the 6pm news.
- 2 February – Roosters Management and Olivia Kernick attended indigenous partner, Deadly Choices, Season Launch event at Parliament House in Brisbane, along with other NRL, AFL, sporting partners, and government guests.
- 14 February – Roosters Management, NRL Game Development Officers and NRLW Community Ambassadors, including Millie Elliott, Brydie Parker and Luke Keary, joined representatives from Surf Life Saving NSW and government officials at Bondi Beach in support of the Government’s “Get Back to Bondi” campaign. The initiative aimed to encourage the community to get down to Bondi and support local businesses and the Bondi community, who are still hurting, following the tragic terror attack two months ago. Our three Eastern Suburbs junior league clubs also held their 2026 rugby league season registration day on the beach, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from families, participants, and Minister Kamper. Photos adjacent and great coverage across morning and evening TV, and social media. We also stood alongside Bondi Surf Life Saving Club during a moving minute’s silence for shark attack victim Kahi Camilleri.
